Multi-talented producer and graphic designer Lavier has a new album coming out on November 14th titled Azimuth, and he just dropped the first single via our friends at The Gradient Perspective!
No stranger to the underground, Lavier has been honing his skills and dialing in a sound that has quickly resonated with crowds across the country, building a dedicated fan base around not only his music, but his digital art as well. For Azimuth, he designed all the visual elements, giving it a cohesive and intentional aesthetic that reflects the sonic landscape he simultaneously created. While plenty of artists are forced to juggle different creative roles, Lavier does so with effortless precision, demonstrating skill in both areas at a very high level.
Upon first listen to Azimuth, it’s clear that Lavier has an advanced degree in low end dynamics, combining heavyweight sub bass with haunting melodies and gloomy textures, to create a body of work perfectly suited for a large sound system in a dark, smoky room. Hints of early dubstep influences such as Skream and Loefah run through the record, but they’re distilled into a more modern, refined take on the genre that both honors its roots and pushes it forward. In a scene that has taken every offshoot as far as it can go, sometimes less is more, and Lavier strikes a perfect balance with Azimuth.
To help celebrate the release of the album (and his birthday!), Lavier is throwing a party in Pittsburgh, November 22nd at Sidequest on 44th, so make sure you grab tickets for that if you’re in the area and stay tuned to his socials and streaming sites to hear the full thing November 14th!
