What do you get when you take Two Guys and a Lone Drum for a massive drop on The Gradient Perspective? A dangerous collaboration, “Big Jake”, that flexes razor-sharp sound design with masterful scratching and quite possibly the best use of a horse sample in recent history.
According to Crawdad Sniper, “Big Jake was the world’s largest horse who died. He ain’t got shit on me.”
Jokes aside, in an era filled with gimmicks and unusual pairings, this is neither, with a lot of overlap between each project that results in a big name collab that is definitely worth the hype. Each artist has contributed their most proficient elements, and fused them into a next-level tune, sure to turn heads at every drop. From Lone Drum’s expert scratching, to Chez’s precision low-end, and Crawdad Sniper’s unearthly squelches and accents, this one has it all, perfectly arranged into a powerful sonic weapon.
“This was a song wrote for the “3 of a Kind Tour” which got lost over time. When Zac and I started the Two Guys project, we were looking for old tunes we could work on and found this, starting with the horn intro and horse noises. This developed into the clopping hats and high energy 16th note bass pattern. We wrote off the idea for a while, but years later came back to it and turned it into one of our favorite tunes yet.“ – Chez

In anticipation for their show at The Ogden Theatre on February 20th, “Big Jake” gives us an idea of what to expect from Two Guys, as they warm things up for K+LAB and Cool Customer. Forward-thinking sonic landscapes and bouncy beats are the name of the game, of which there will be no shortage come Friday night. Stream the track now and grab your tickets HERE if you haven’t already, because this one is sure to sell out!
