Denver producer Philia, aka Dan Giffin, just released his full ‘Obscura’ EP, showing
prowess in the controlled explosiveness of his production. “Obscura feels like an honest reflection of where I’m at creatively. It’s emotional, weird, and heavy in all the right places—like a dance party in the middle of a lucid dream,” Philia explains.
This isn’t the first time we’ve crossed paths, as Giffin has performed at many of Denver’s premier clubs including Larimer Lounge most recently, where he debuted his new album. He isn’t just another bedroom producer making weird beats either, apparent by his extensive resume. He’s worked in studios with platinum artists like Mac Miller and Machinegun Kelly, bringing a professional polish to the underground scene. His live show speaks for itself too. Philia has opened for heavyweights like Tiësto, Slushii, Daily Bread, Maddy O’Neal, and Marvel Years. At festivals like Electric Forest, his sets become these wild experiences where he’s mixing tracks, playing live instruments, and even sampling the crowd in real time.
Here’s something cool we recently discovered—Giffin is one of only 350 Ableton Certified Trainers worldwide. He also hosts the Ableton Music Producer Podcast, which has over 180 episodes helping producers level up their game. Go stream ‘Obscura’ and get familiar with this multi-disciplined artists’ work in the process!
